On May 8th the RMS Dance classes held their Spring Recital with a special performance from the RMS steppers. Here are a few clips from that performance.

African Folk tales continues with it’s 8th story - “Congolese Princess” written by Nicky from Mrs. Sihalla’s World Cultures class. Ms. Odil’s theater student, Keisha, reads this new twist on Rapunzel.
The next installment of African Folk Tales is “The Three Little Goats and the Fire-Eyed Bat” by Jaycie of Mr. Cudjo’s World Cultures class and read by Danielle of Ms. Odil’s theater arts class. This folk tale takes place in the African country of Cape Verde.
“Little Blue Flying Bird” is written by Isabel in Mr. Cudjo’s World Cultures Class and read by Ms. Engelhardt. This story is the remake of Little Red Riding Hood - Comoros style. Listen as Little Blue learns the value of staying focused and following her mother’s directions.
On May 1st, 8th grade students will take the Science TAKS. Science Teachers, Emma Dausses has prepared this presentation on what parents and students need to know about this upcoming test. For more information please contact your child’s science teacher.

Our fifth folk tale is set in Benin and is titled “The Little Brown Monkey.” This story is written by Kyle, a student in Ms. Appl’s World Cultures class, and is read by Mr. Parrack.
African Folk tales continues with “Brother Zebra” was written by Karina, a student in Ms. Conner’s World Cultures class, and is read by Mrs. Dodd.
Episode #6 features “Acalayong: An African Fairy tale from Equatorial Guinea” written and read by Caitlin. Caitlin is a student in Ms. Conner’s World Cultures class and is one of a few students chosen to share their original stories.
African Folk Tales continues in Episode 5 with “Maseru and Angora: An African Version of Little Red Riding Hood” written and read by Lily, a member of Ms. Conner’s sixth grade World Cultures class.
On April 17th students attended sessions on various careers. This videocast features pictures of our presenters and interviews with students on what they learned. We would like to offer a special thanks to those who took time out of their day to speak with our students. We all learned new and interesting information.

On May 2nd, 8th grade students will take the Social Studies TAKS. The Ridgeview U.S. History teachers have prepared this short presentation for parents on what they need to know about the test. If you have further questions, please contact your social studies teacher.

The third installment of Ridgeview’s Pawcasts was produced by Bailey, Nathan, and Jovani. The students interviewed our resident musical expert, Mr. Spratlan about playing instruments and being an orchestra director at Ridgeview Middle School.
The second installment of Ridgeview’s Pawcasts was produced by Aimee, Alex, Echo and Ashley. The students interviewed Dr. Galloway about her dreams, her decision to become a principal and how she came to work at Ridgeview Middle School.
Eighth graders will be taking the Math TAKS on April 8th. Seventh and sixth graders will be tested April 29th. Once again this is an important year for the 8th graders, who must pass the test to be promoted to the 9th grade. This presentation was created by Karen McLinden and covers the basics of the math test and what parents can do to help prepare their student. If you have questions or want more information, please contact your child’s math teacher.

SSI is the Student Success Initiative and was enacted 1999. Beginning this school year 8th grade students must pass the reading and math TAKS in order to move to high school. This presentation explains what every parent and student in the 8th grade should know going into TAKS.

On March 5th seventh grade students will be taking the Writing TAKS. This presentation addresses what every parent needs to know going into the day of testing. If you have further questions, please contact your child’s Language Arts teacher or Ms. Osborne.

Eighth graders will be taking the Reading TAKS on March 5th. This presentation covers the basics of the reading test and what parents can do to help prepare their student. This year is crucial for 8th graders, as they have to pass the test in order to promoted to 9th grade. Sixth and seventh grade students will be taking the reading test in April.
